Job Description
PART-TIME 15-20 hours per week
Are you adept at organizing and coordinating chaos? Do you love the circus? If so, we want you on our team! We’re looking for a broadly competent and passionately organized person to help keep our circus on track.
The Boston Circus Guild is an innovative, collaborative arts organization that creates career opportunities for performers, develops a community of artists, and inspires, educates, and entertains audiences across New England. We are passionate about helping artists make a living from their art. Our primary means of achieving this is through our bookings manager, who finds and books gigs for our amazing roster of performers. We’ve grown enough that we need you to help the Senior Bookings Manager orchestrate all of these wonderful circus events.
The Assistant Bookings Manager will directly report to and support the Senior Bookings Manager. The Assistant Bookings Manager will be responsible for coordinating logistics that are essential for a circus performance to run smoothly. This will principally include:
This job has a lot of room for growth. There are many more intricate tasks that we’d love you to help out with as we better understand your skills and interests. In time, this position could expand to take on more responsibilities, including possible promotion to Senior Bookings Manager.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is confident saying “I’ll figure out how to do that”, but just as comfortable saying “I don’t know how to do that; where can I get that information?” This job involves coordinating between many different parties for a number of gigs at a time, so organization and attention to detail is a must, as well as responding promptly to email. Experience proactively making spreadsheets to track details and logistics is certainly a plus.
We’re looking for someone who can work an average of 15-20 hours per week; ideally the candidate will be flexible about occasionally working 25 hours one week and 10 the next. Much of our work is done remotely or on-site, and we do not have an office. Our meetings and co-working sessions typically occur in a coffee shop or a staff member’s residence. Additional work can be performed from home or wherever you like. Night and weekend hours may be necessary occasionally.
Compensation:
If you’d like to help the Boston Circus Guild bring the joy and wonder of circus to New England and beyond, submit your resume via the form below.
